Well it's completed. My friends and I cycled from Lairg to Tongue -it took us 4.5 hours and the final hill before Tongue on the way there was unexpected and shockingly long.
The weather was pretty poor on Saturday Morning before the walk. The pic shows everyone soaked before the walk actually started. The walk was challenging- very steep at the start and then evened out at the top- everyone made it- we didn't leave anyone behind! Claire's chocolate fudge was very welcome at the top.
On the Sunday morning there were 35 mile an hour gusts of wind and non-stop rain Tongue- but we decided to give it a go anyway. The weather really improved as we cycled- On the way back by bicycle we made it a bit more leisurely- we had a few stops- in Altnaharra (the coldest place in Britain!) and at the Crask Inn - Hmmm Toasties! And because we knew the route it seemed a lot easier.
We finished it dry, sun burned and happy.
The current fundraising total is £2200. But hopefully still going up. Here is the link if you stillw ant to donate. http://www.justgiving.com/chunkysimon
